
Drawing on the expertise of Tom Sheppard, leader of
the first motorised coast to coast expedition across the Sahara, Saul Kelly,
author of the book 'The Hunt for Zerzura' and expert on the history of the
Libyan Desert, Professor Vance Haynes of The University of Tucson Arizona and
world wide renowned Professor of Geo-Anthropology and Peter Clayton desert
explorer and author of 'Desert Explorer: A Biography of Colonel P.A. Clayton '.
P.A. Clayton was a member of the Egyptian Desert Survey in the twenties and
thirties and a founder member of the Long Range Desert Group. Finally, we shall
be talking to Brigadier Rupert Harding Newman, now 95 years of age, who was part
of two major expeditions in 1932 and 1935. Rupert’s cine film of the 1935
expedition shall form part of the footage of the documentary. Farouk El-Baz,
ex-scientific advisor to the Egyptian Government and now head of remote sensing
at Boston University.
