Sam Stephens is 35, married to Anne with two children, Elizabeth and William. He recently established his own company with two colleagues. He has a passion for adventure having already climbed in the Alps and the Rockies. Sam’s interest was initially sparked when he read the account of Major Bagnold’s (the founder of the Long Range Desert Group) experiences in the desert in his journal ‘Libyan Sands – Travel in a Dead World’.

Roy Newton worked for Rolls Royce PLC. He too has an adventurous spirit. Sam introduced Roy to Bagnold’s book and has become passionate about the challenges of driving 70 year old vehicles over 6000 miles through some of the world’s most hostile environments. Roy has a lifelong interest in trailing and rallying cars.
